2017 International Champions Cup preview

The 2017 International Champions Cup features a host of mouth-watering games between some of football’s top clubs.

The annual pre-season friendly competition is scheduled to take place during July in the USA, China and Singapore, as clubs look to engage with their foreign fans and develop their brands with a much wider audience.

Real Madrid and Barcelona were the first two teams announced as taking part in the US, with Manchester giants United and City also heading Stateside.

Roma and Paris Saint-Germain kick-off the US schedule on July 19 in Detroit, before attention switches to the first ever Manchester derby in Houston the following day.

The  will have plenty of wagering opportunities as the Premier League duo battle for early season supremacy.

July 22 sees Lionel Messi’s Barcelona take on Juventus in New Jersey, while PSG will face Tottenham Hotspur in Orlando.

Madrid take centre stage on July 23 as they go head-to-head with United – a clash that Red Devils’ boss Jose Mourinho will no doubt be savouring against his former club.

Spurs play Roma two days later, before United take to the field again when they meet Barca in Maryland on July 26.

The same day also sees PSG do battle with Juventus in Florida, while Pep Guardiola’s City face Madrid in Los Angeles.

City are back in action against Spurs on July 29 in Nashville, followed by Madrid versus Barca in Florida on the same day.

Neither side has been too busy in the transfer market this summer, although Barca have secured the services of star man Messi who has extended his contract until 2021.

Massachusetts is the final port of call in the US, with the state’s large Italian contingent ready to welcome Roma and Juventus to the Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, on July 30.

Over in China, the ICC gets underway on July 18 as AC Milan take on Borussia Dortmund in Guangzhou.

Bayern Munich will look to repeat last season’s Champions League drubbing of Arsenal when they face the Gunners in Shanghai on July 19, and the German side are back in action against Milan in Shenzhen three days later.

Inter Milan versus Lyon is the final game in China on July 24.

Bayern’s busy ICC schedule continues in Singapore the following day when they take on Premier League champions Chelsea.

Antonio Conte’s side are likely to be without Diego Costa who has been told he can leave the club, with the London side believed to be interested in signing Bayern star Robert Lewandowski or Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.

The penultimate game in Singapore takes place on July 27 as Bayern face Inter, with Chelsea going head-to-head with the Serie A side in the final fixture two days later.
